This is a database of many tips and tricks some outstanding soldiers have taught me over the years. Have any more?
These are must have items for Infantryman, when new solders ask me what to blow their bonus money on this is what I tell them:

If you are an infantryman you will use these items all the time. Don't waste your money on cheep equipment, get the good stuff and you will not have to replace it. Also ingrave your name or battle roster number on all of your stuff so it does'nt grow legs.
SIMPLE SLING:
This is by far the best sling I have ever used, yes I have had three or four slings of all types. Most of the time they end up getting caught up on my equipment in the worst of times. This sling has never failed me.

Materials Needed:
1. 1 Grenade Pin (From a previously Expended Grendade, not the one in your pouch... good iniative bad judgement)
2. 15 FT of 550 cord, I make sure that all the 550 on my weapon matches, I just think it looks better.
3. 1 General Purpose strap, like the one on your CLS bag, or 2 Quart Canteen.
4. Some type of subdued tape to silence your grenade pin.

Instructions:
Place grenade pin on front site post. Soundproof pin with tape. Run 550 cord through pin, secure with wiremens knot and two half-hitches. Run 550 cord through butt-stock sling guide, secure with wiremens knot and two half-hitches. Clip on general purpose strap and go.
Magizines...
Okay guys, I am tired of telling you the 550 cord has to run under the magizine bottom... so here are some instructions on doing it correctly.

You have to remove the magizine bottom and loop the 550 around the metal peice (the mag bottom per TM). If you just tape it on it will fail. Make sure to use enough 550 so that you can remove the magizine with gloves on.

AN/PVS-14 Lens Cap Retainer
I got tired of my cap flopping around all of the time. I just put a little "hook and loop" to use. You may want to limit the hook on the cap, to much may impeed testing during the day with cap on.

ACH Strobe Light Retention with "Hook and Pile"
It works.

Non-Slip grip for M-16 / M-4 Series Rifles.
It actually works pretty good, makes the grip much more comftrable. Lube up rubber with some hand sanitizer before you attempt to slip it over the pistol grip.

Garmin ETREX
Paint it OD Green so you do not stick out like a sore thumb. I just used some spray paint and covered the screen with masking tape. Make sure you tie you equipment down, or your going to be bitching all the way back to the PX to get another one.
